Born from the dream of letter carrier Ferdinand Cheval, who built it stone by stone from 1879 to 1912, the Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval, in Hauterives, is a surprisingly heterogeneous place.

A true masterpiece of naïve art, totally independent of artistic movements, this palace was inspired by both nature and the exotic architecture that the letter carrier discovered in the first illustrated magazines.

Listed as a historic monument since 1969, this unique site now welcomes renowned artists such as Niki de Saint Phaelle.
