The Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval in Hauterives is an exceptional and colourful place, born from a dream of postman Ferdinand Cheval who built it stone by stone from 1879 to 1912.
This masterwork of naive art, completely independent from any art movement, found its inspiration in the nature and exotic architecture that the postman finds in the first illustrated magazines.
The Palais has been a historical monument since 1969, and this unique site now offers space to famous artist who exhibit their work, like Niki de Saint Phaelle.
